This two day course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. The NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation.
This course both meets and exceeds all State requirements necessary to apply for the Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
The NRA CCW Course is more comprehensive and shooting intensive than the standard Louisiana CHP Course. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a Course Completion Certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.
Topics covered include:
- Handgun nomenclature and safe handling procedures
- Ammunition and fundamentals of handgun shooting
- Child access prevention
- Drawing a handgun from concealment
- Defensive shooting techniques
- Mindset, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the legal use of deadly force
- Care and Cleaning
- Students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification
Class length: 16 hours (2 Day Course)
What to bring: Your clean and serviceable carry pistol, a quality holster, a quality gun belt, minimum of 3 magazines, magazine pouch, a suitable cover garment, hearing and eye protection, proper footwear (no open toed shoes or sandals), and 200 rounds of ammunition.
Ammunition for most handgun calibers, and ear and eye protection are available for purchase in our retail area.
